There are a number of ways to monitor that Bucardo is alive; it depends 
a bit on what monitoring system you use.

Using check_postgres is a great way to verify things are working, for it 
can check the final result of what Bucardo does, by making sure a change 
is replicated to another server. Use the 'replicate_row' action of 
check_postgres, documented here:
