That's interesting. Could you perhaps modify your 'bucardo' script and 
try again, then email the output?

Just look for this line:

   $QUIET or print "Postgres version is: $maj.$min\n";

and change it to:

   $QUIET or print "Postgres version is: $maj.$min ($res)\n";
